Nearly all of us were raised to believe that an adult requires 8 hours of sleep per day, which is exactly one third of their entire day. This process is known as monophasic sleep. However it is entirely possible to become polyphasic and break your sleep cycles up into many smaller chunks throughout the day.
This site aims to collect the information that exists on polyphasic sleeping across the Internet in order to ensure that newcomers are doing the process properly and thus aren't destined for failure.

Well it looks like I got all of the kinks out, so I'm launching the new sections to the site. I had hoped to do this earlier but I've been really the last couple of weeks. The video system works just like anything else on this site, meaning anyone can submit videos to add to the site. So if you run a video blog, or know of someone who does just submit the links and I'll make sure they are featured on this site.
As far as the IRC chat goes, I idle in there virtually 24/7 so you can always get a hold of me through there. There's usually a few others online but in general its still very quiet in there. We've had an issue the last couple of days with some jerk named Darfur who hi-jacked #uberman. He's been kicking everyone from the channel and has been harassing me for no good reason. So if you're on Freenode, please feel free to send him a whisper reminding him about how much of a douche bag he is. Other than that, hope to see you all on IRC! |

Some of you may have noticed the addition of the new "Site Related" branch of the forum. This is an attempt at speeding up and also enhancing the development of the site. There are 3 new categories. Here's a quick rundown:
- Bug Reports - All efforts have been made at keeping the site running "without a hitch", but if you find that something is not working quite like you expect it to, you may have found a bug! Report it here so that it may be evaluated.
- Suggestions - This is where you can share and /or discuss your ideas for site improvements with others.
- To Do List - Here you will find information as well as status updates about upcoming features that will be added to the site.
Make sure and take advantage of these new features. That's what they are there for. Besides, what else are you going to do with all that extra time you've got now? Oh that's right, make a sleep log! |

I finished up the Sleep Logs section of the site today and it is now open for the public to use. Any member can create their own sleep log, I only ask that members try to keep their posts relevant to poly phasic sleep. I don't mind the odd off topic post, but please keep in mind people are here to learn about poly phasic sleep and could care less about those new shoes you just bought, or what your plans are for the weekend.
Getting your own Sleep Log started is very easy, just follow these four easy steps:
- Register an account, if you haven't already, and log-in
- Click Manage Sleep Log from the user menu
- Enter the name of your new blog and hit the Create Sleep Log button
- Begin Posting!
To view a Sleep Log, just click the Sleep Logs link on the left menu and select the user who's log you'd like to read.
For now I've just released the Sleep Logs with basic functionality, but there are many more features coming over the course of the next few weeks. |

I've been working hard on my free time to get a lot of things done on this site, and I've just applied several of those updates to the live version of this site. First of all there's the more obvious one, a logo. Not having a logo has been bugging me since day one so I'm glad to finally have that online. Next there's the search engine friendly URLs which are now in place, so the spiders can find their way into the forums and articles section. After that there's a bunch of minor stuff such as a new footer, new articles and new web links.
The biggest update I've been working on are the sleep logs, which are almost done now. I expect that within the next week they will be done and people can start tracking their sleep patterns. The first release will only include basic blogging functionality but the next will include RSS features and a few other unique features that I am not yet ready to divulge. |

While I was up last night I developed a free time calculator, it can be used to determine how many free hours you will earn over a span of time by following any one of the various sleeping schedules. It's very shocking to see how much time you can earn over just a month!

After several nights of working hard to fill in some content, I went out and bought a domain for the site. Well, I didn't so much go out as I did sit in my chair in my underwear at 4am in the morning and click a few buttons, but you know what I mean.
The articles and links sections are filled out quite nicely, and I started writing the FAQs. Once I get all of that done I will begin tweaking my custom blogging software so that any user can add their own sleep log to the page, which will mean we wont have to scour the internet trying to find scattered blogs about polyphasing. Things shouldn't take long considering I have an extra 4 hours each night to kill making websites. :D |
