Ahoy thar,

Well this is my first post. I am starting my poly-phasic schedule today, well tonight. I'll start with a little bit about myself.
My name is Jonny, I am 20 years old. I'm currently in my final year of university, where I am studying Games Design. I am currently living at home with my Dad and his wife. I don't have a job, not planning on getting one in a while either. I have been looking into poly-phasic sleep for a while, one of my friends 'dared' me to do and so here I am.

Well that's all I can think of for the moment, I'm sure if anyone reads this they will get to know me more. But yeah, my schedule. I started out wanting to do a Dymaxion schedule but about 3 hours ago I decided that I was going to need more sleep and decided to change it. It is now pretty much an Everyman schedule.

Core Sleep: 12:00 - 02:00
1st Nap: 08:00 - 08:20
2nd Nap: 14:00 - 14:20
3rd Nap: 20:00 - 20:30

Total Sleep: 3 Hours 10 minutes

I decided that I needed that extra 10 mintutes, but as I go on I suspest I will either get rid of it or change the other 20 min naps to 30 mins, but I don't know yet.

And thus concludes my first post, I should get on and write myself a To Do list otherwise I'll die of bordem.

Ahoy again,

Well I have just got up from my first 30 min nap. I didn't sleep at all, mainly because I wasn't tired but also because everyone in my house is soo loud. Hopefully it won't be a problem for my day time naps otherwise I'm going to have to find somewhere else to have a nap or find a way to sound proof my room. I know that napping in my bed is a bad idea, but I have no where else to do it, so I am going to have to start setting the alarm on my phone as well as my clock.

So far so good. I think that the awake time between 2 and 8 are going to be the worst, but as long as I don't ever sleep I think I will be fine. I am surprised but I actually seem to have more energy already, I wonder how long this is going to last.

1st Core Sleep (January 31, 2010 @ 8:55 PM)

Ahoy thar again,

Well I just failed my first core sleep. I decided to try sleeping on the sofa, as it was only 2 hours. But it took me a while just to get to sleep and then at 1:00, just 1 hour into my sleep. I needed to go to the toilet, damn Dr.Pepper it's soo moreish, I'll have to cut down a bit next time. Also my neck and back are aching a bit so I'll have to find somewhere else thats comfier, I might try my computer chair.

Now I have just got to find something to keep me busy, so I don't fall asleep. I'll also probably stop posting after every nap, I don't seem to have much to write about.

Off the wagon (February 1, 2010 @ 1:24 PM)

GODDAMNIT!

I've fallen off the wagon already. I went for my 14:00 nap and 4 hours later here I am. My 08:00 nap went like the rest of them, I lay there with my eyes shut and felt a bit refreshed afterwards. But tiredness soon crept upon me.
Well it looks like I've learnt not to sleep in my bed. But it was like a siren with sweet songs of comfort and warmth. I also need to remember to set my alarm on my clock and not just on my phone as it didn't even stir me. I'm still feeling a bit tired, I'm so annoyed and dissapointed in myself, I thought I would have lasted long than this.

But not to worry I'm jumping straight back into the game. My next nap is at 20:00 and then I've got my core sleep again. Hopefully this time I wil actually got some sleep, instead of just staying awake. I need to find a way to fall asleep better, I've always had a problem getting to sleep.

Day 2 - A new beginning (February 2, 2010 @ 12:32 AM)

Well I woke up for my core sleep having actually had a little bit of sleep. I'm not sure how much but I realised I was sleeping, got a bit excited and woke myself up 30 mins before my alarm was set to go off. Is this the start of lucid dreams? So I lay there with my eyes shut, still feeling a bit bleary eyed. 30 minutes soon passed and my phone started virbrating and beeping at me. So I pulled it out of my sock shut off the alarm and lay there for a few more minutes. I soon realised that my eyes were starting to close again so I threw the covers off me and did a few sit-ups to get my blood pumping. That did the trick.

I just realised that this is the start of day 2, although I hit a pothole earlier I am feeling good about today, about things to come. I am starting to struggle to know what day it is, I must spend at least a minute of every hour reminding myself. Also I am starting to succumb to bordem, I need to find some good activities to keep myself occupied. I can't just sit on the sofa wathching movies all the time. Although when I go to uni that will keep me somewhat occupied as the work is soon going to start piling up.

I'll probably get bored later on and post again, but for now.

Complete meltdown (February 2, 2010 @ 2:09 PM)

Ahoy,

Well I completely and utterly failed today. I went for my 08:00 nap, that went the same as usual with no sleep. Then my alarm went off and I remember pulling the phone out of my sock and shutting off the alarm. Then the next thing I know is it's 18:00. I had just slept for 10 hours! I am going to keep saying this, but I shouldn't have my naps in my bed. I thought I could handle it this time though. I'm not sure how a day can start off so well and then do a 180 and kick me in the face.

I'm not stopping here though, I am going to carry on. I am going to miss my 20:00 nap as I doubt I'll need it. Then see if I can have my core sleep, although I think I might only have an hour nap there instead. Also I am going to extend my core sleep to 3 hours, so now it will be from 12:00 to 3:00. Hopefully this will help in the future. I might shift my naps around a bit later on, but for now they are going to stay where they are.

Note to Self - Get a better alarm!

Back on track (February 3, 2010 @ 3:18 AM)

Well after yesterdays mishap, I appear to be back on track.
My core sleep didn't go brilliantly, I wasn't really that tired so I had a 20 min nap at 12 and then another at 3. It worked so thats good.
Today I'm in uni, so I am going to have 2 naps here. I have just finished my 8 o'clock nap. As usual I didn't sleep, but I do realise that I am going to have to find a better place for my next nap. Hopefully I'll be able to have it on the bus back home or even at home if I finish up here early enough. Being out of the house is going to help me not repeat yesterdays fiasco, so once again I am feeling optimistic about today.

I was starting to feel really tired as I was coming into uni and my nap doesn't seem to have help any. Hopefully I won't be too bad today as I might have to do lots of thinking. I hope I actually get some sleep during my naps soon otherwise I am going to have to stop doing this.

Another meltdown (February 3, 2010 @ 11:32 PM)

Ahoy,

Well  I had another metldown! There seems to be a 14:00 barrier. . . I can't get passed it, although it doesn't help that I don't sleep during my naps. In my 14:00 nap, I went to my bed again, I put my phone in my sock and set my clock. I remember pulling my phone out of my sock and resetting it because I had no sleep....and then at 20:00 my sister rings me and asks if I'm off for some drinks.

Well now it's 4:20 and I am feeling shattered, but I don't know if I should stay up till 08:00 or have some sleep now. I'm in uni again today at 11, I think, but I don't knoe if I will make it in. I am feeling soo tired. After my "nap" (14:00 - 20:00) I was still feeling tired. I mean completley knackered. I need to be able to nap soon or I will die! My sister and a couple of friends told me my new sleeping pattern was really bad for me, but I am going to ignore them for now.

Right I am going to have a nap for now a good 40 minutes or an hour, hopefully it will help me catch up on this pattern...Although I am thinking about stopping till the weekend. I need to be able to nap soon, I'm goning to have a look around to see if there is a good way to have a nap. And I need to find somewhere comfy in uni for a good nap, I tried in a compauter lab, but the desks are too low. I'm sure the library is a good place or i might just sleep in a random corridor at some point.

Right as I said before I am bloody knackered, so I am off to sleep. Hopefully I'll get up in time for uni.

Defeated (February 4, 2010 @ 2:13 PM)

Well looks like I have been defeated for now. I went to sleep at 4:30 ish andwoke up at about 11. I ws feeling really hungover and really ill. So after a couple of hours of lying on the sofa and going to throw up. I decided to go to bed. I only got up about an hour ago. I don't know how I have managed to sleep for soo long.

So I am going to stop for now and I am going to try again next weekend.Hopefully I'll do better then.
