I was thinking that if you need to be really sleep deprived before the adaptation really kicks in, maybe you could just, you know, stay awake for 48 hours or something before even trying to nap. Maybe your body would just naturally start getting rem then, or after a couple of naps.
I just thought that if we need to go through the zombie phase anyway, we might just as well make it happen as soon as possible, so that might actually make the adaptation faster.
Right, I bought the Ubersleep book written by Puredoxyk, and she actually did this.
It says that she was trying to see for how long she could be awake without sleeping, got insomnia and could not sleep more than in 20 minute chunks, and then her friend told her about the "Da Vinci Schedule", which she incorporated.
It did work. I'm really thinking that it could be beneficial to not sleep for a couple of days before trying to adapt.
